Scabalicious and whiskery

Gabe with Lindsay (cousin) and Jason (brother)

Dropped by this evening to see Gabe. He’s now in the progressive ICU after his surgery. Greg Hardesty brought in some soup today, described as ‘awesome’ by Gabe. It had bacon so it must have been, although he didn’t save me any to try. Everything seems to going pretty good – he’s sleeping better, white blood cell count is getting down to the normal range, and his breathing is improving with the help of Bob, his incentive spirometer. There’s a pretty rigorous daily physical therapy schedule posted in the room with lots of stretching and mobility exercises to keep him busy (and tired.) Looks like he should be getting booted over to rehab pretty soon!

    Gabe-
Haven’t seen you since we both worked at Cornerstone (a lifetime ago:). John Gentry managed to spread word all the way to Florida, I always knew he had a big mouth! I’m so glad to hear of your continuing recovery. You and your beautiful family will continue to be in my thoughts.

    Warmest wishes,

Hey, Gabe! We continue to think about you all the time… so much so that I dreamed last night you were sleeping on our couch! I wouldn’t recommend it, there are two dogs and a baby here, and I think you have your own at home :)

We look forward to further updates, thanks Pete!!!

Glad to see you’re progressing to therapy – and that you’re getting good grub smuggled in! Brett and I are still sending you and your family good thoughts. Keep your spirits up and give your therapists hell!

Hey Gabe, It’s a good thing you spent time in Aunt Nancy’s sauna nekked, so you don’t have to suffer the pangs of modesty now with all the nurses and everyone looking at your butt and such. Glad to hear you’re getting some real food. XXOO Susan and Max

    Hi Gabe,

I just want to let you know that our entire senior class is thinking of you and your family every day. You mess with one Raider and you mess with us all! :) I look forward to reading about your reunion with your adorable boy soon.

    Brooke and Gabe:
Brooke, I know I’ve met you and spoken to you several times, through Lisa D. (And didn’t we drive to DC together?)

I was saddened to hear about this tragedy. Know that our love and healing light are coming your way. I can’t wait to read on here about the reunion of father and son, it must be so hard for those two to be apart.

Many prayers for wonderful outcomes and strength for Gabe and strength for Brooke to keep the family going solo for a while.

Ahhh the wonders of bacon… truly a midwestern cure and we need more of it here on the East Coast. Gabe you just keep lookin’ bettah! And I’ve heard such great news from my sisters about all of the wonderful support that you and Brooke are receiving – WOW. Brooke’s workplace is a gem and she must be well-loved there as are you by Mr. Hardesty. I’m so happy that so many care so much about you three. We’re sending you our healing Atlantic ocean salt air and look forward to sharing it with you in person again in the future….
    Aloha, Aunt Terri Tess
