Gabe had an echocardiogram and is scheduled for a minor surgery today to make a small opening in his pericardium. Some fluid is accumulating around his heart that doctors suspect is lymph fluid, and is probably due to the pericardium being grazed by the bullet. They expect this to help get his heart rate back to normal. Gabe’s fever is down, although still slightly above normal at last check. He’s not on a regular diet yet, but did get to have some jello this morning. The physical therapist gave him a good workout this morning, and arrangements to get him to the rehab center continue.

Bob looks like a really nice guy….. Brings new meaning to heavy breathing. Keep using that incentive spirometer (Bob) Keep up the good work you will be home in no time.

We are thinking of you each day–mostly about how the nurses must think you and Pete have to be the two most sarcastic, dry humored boys they’ve ever met. You look great; you look like Gabe Jordan, man who knows he is blessed to be alive today. Pete, you are doing an excellent job of keeping the world that surrounds your family updated, which in turn will help us all continue to send positive energy to Gabe in the road of healing ahead.

We keep checking up on you daily and cheerleading your recovery. It was really nice to see the pictures of you and Bob, the scabby nose and beard; but most of all the small smile we detected in the “hanging out” picture. Looking pretty good in those pics! You have been in my thoughts daily, and I,m glad to hear of your recovery progress. Just wanted you to know that you have a lot of people out here that love you much! Keep up the good work on recovery. I’m anxious to see you guys when I come home for Christmas.
