Time out at RECESS

2009 December 3
by Mike

Yesterday Gabe went via van to meet his partner, Greg Hardesty, at Recess.   Greg showed Gabe all the progress and all that still needs to be done prior to opening.  “It’s amazing how different it looks in such a short time” according to Gabe.

I thinks it’s amazing how well Gabe is acclimating to getting around in a chair.  He noted a couple of slight changes to improve access at the front door, and Greg assured him they were already in the plan.  The architect is changing  the height of the front sales counter so it is more usable.

I never knew you had dignity and grace! :) It’s always the quite ones you gotta watch. It runs in the family that is for sure.

Really, I always knew you had it and it is obvious by watching you meet this challenge head on. Keep up all the hard work and determination for yourself, family, and the new restaurant. Can’t wait for a road trip to Indy to see you and have a great experience at RECESS.

Continued prayers and love coming your way!

We are awed by your strength and dignity and that shown by your family throughout this entire tragedy. Truly, words fail me when I see photos of you out and about in such a short period of time and with a little hint of a smile on your face. We are honored to know you and anxious to see you soon.

By the way, I posted this video from October. I thought you might get a kick out of it.

I was just thinking about you when I drove by your parents’ house on Mercer when I was home for Thanksgiving. My thoughts are with you and your family.

    Gabe!

While I become each time I think about the incident, you give me so much strength when I see you getting back to business like this. Your spirit has not been broken, and this fact is buoying all of us and taking us to a higher level of compassion and love and determination to live life to the fullest no matter what. I can hardly put it into words.

    Love,
    Gina

PS – forgive your west coast cousin for being out of the loop of your life prior to last month, but I am TOTALLY excited to eat at RECESS!

PPS – the Zombie babies made my day. Thanks, Jonathan!
