Jake and I send you and your family all our love and prayers. We will sign up to help in any way we can. We are here to support you, stay strong, you will recover and this time will pass…
Brooke and Gabe: Joe and I are so shocked and saddened by this tragedy. We are available and willing to help you in any way possible. I will keep track via this site–I’m so glad someone started it so we can all keep up to date. I hope the fact that many, many people care helps to sustain you. Again, please contact us if we can be of any help whatsoever.
Dear Jordans, Frankes, and Holoms,
I’m not able to do much other than offer my thoughts, prayers, and moral support, but you definitely have that.
Gabe, you are an amazing, strong man. We are all 100% behind you.
All the best,
Alli Bault (Andrea Holom’s sister)
Gabe: Like everybody else, we’re still in total disbelief of the whole episode. Can’t keep from tearing up everytime we look at the video or the pix. Please let us know if there’s anything at all we can do – that includes the whole Stone crew. And to all of the Downens: we’re also thinking of each of you.
Gabe and Brooke and Ezra, I want you to know I’m here for whatever I can do. I’m a particularly good sitter for babies, so please let me help with Ezra. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Janet Jacobs (Mollie’s mom)
Thank you, thank you, thank you ALL for your outpouring of love, prayers, flowers, foods, emotional and financial support. Time is on our side. Love conquers all. FYI: it was only $4, not $20.
Gabe & Brooke… Josh called to let us know what happened. We may be in Oregon, but we’ll do anything we can to help you both survive & thrive… we love you!
Good things happen to bad people and we will never know why. Luckily good people have friends and family who love them and will help them during times of struggle. God never gives us challenges that we can’t handle.
We love you all so much.
Lori and Matt Fitzgerald
Gabe & Brooke,
Our prayers, love & thoughts are with you. Be patient & just love one another. We all can help with the rest. Brooke, please consider letting Ash & I help you with Ezra whenever, Cale would love it. All our love.

I felt so sick upon hearing about this tragedy! Never knew your name but we have waved and said hi as you walked your dog and have spoken to your wife while walking our dog. I hope you got the soup ok the other day and I will be glad to help with anything, so please do not hesitate to call. My husband has offered the services of building a wheelchair ramp when you are ready. I am so glad to hear you are doing better. You are blessed to have such a wonderful support group. I will keep you in our prayers
Your neighbors
Hey Gabe,
Sending you good vibes to help with your recovery. I guess it’ll be a tough road, but with such a support group of family and friends as you have, I would wager you’ll make it through alright. I can’t stop thinking that your little guy is so lucky that he still has a Daddy around and I guess by extension how lucky we all are that we have what we have, cuz apparently you never know what might happen. Unbelievable.
See you around,
Troy and the Carpenters
Gabe and Brooke-
We were very upset to hear what happened to Gabe. Gabe has been a “family favorite” of all of us! You both have our prayers, thoughts and love, which encompass your son and your families. We would love to help out in any way you need…just let us know what those needs are and we will be there! I see Gabe getting through this with flying colors, as I know God never gives us more than we can handle. And how wonderful that God decided to continue to bless the earth with Gabe and did not take him to heaven yet! Cole and Cade send their love and prayers, also.
Sincerely,
Dean, Kelly, Cole and Cade
I am still in shock about what happened. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please let us know when the fund is set up so we can contribute.
Also, I would be happy to spend time with Gabe bedside when he is able and wants to see visitors and talk to him about food and wine, the stuff he enjoyed so much. I wish the entire family a speedy recovery.
Dear Brooke and Gabe:
Please know that you both are in our thoughts and prayers! Sending lots of positive energy your way.
love,
Janie

Dear Gabe and Brooke,
We will do whatever we can to help your family. We’re feeling pretty helpless right now, but look forward to getting updates and learning what your needs are.

I only learned after reading the paper this morning that the faceless guy, simply out walking his dog, shot by senseless, cowardly thugs is no longer faceless to me. I know Gabe as a customer of Goose and a fellow food/beer/wine and bicycle afficiondao. His knowledge of beer and wine was one that I would tap often. I would encourge him get that singlespeed built so he could ride, knowing with a growing family and personal goals that is a luxury probably saved for latter in life. I look foward to the day I can not only once again enjoy his knowledge of food beer and wine but also join him on a bike ride. GO GABE you’ve got a family counting on you and we’ve got bikes to ride!
Gabe,
I just met you at Recess a few weeks ago when I stopped by to see Greg…….my thoughts….my prayers……my willingness to help in any way are all I can do at this moment to offer comfort…….
It’s obvious that you’ve touched many lives and have many more “touches” to be made…..
Mike
I was saddened to hear your tragedy in the news and at the same time very impressed with the actions of your obviously loyal dog. I too have a Staffordshire Terrier pit – bull mix and I know they are very fine dogs.
I know these days are very hectic for your family and would like to offer my yard and basement dog pen for your dog to use should you need assistance with the daily care, feeding or walking in the short term. I live in the Garfield park area and have never met you but I do wish you the best. Take good care of that hero dog!!!
We just heard the news and are still overwhelmed over this senseless act of violence. Glad to hear Gabe is improving. It’s obvious that he and his family have a lot of people praying and sending them good thoughts. Many more than they are aware of. I’m sure that I am speaking for all of us that we all are willing to do what we can to help the Jordans through this tough time. Despite what happened to Gabe Sunday night, he is a very lucky man.
I just heard the news of your tragedy moments ago and am deeply saddened by what has happenend to you and your family. My family and I will be praying for you everyday. Brooke- you have been my freind for almost 20 years and I love you dearly, if there is anything I can do for you please let me know!!! I can be there in a few hours if needed. Gabe- I believe you will get through this and you have an amazing family to provide you with the strength to do so! Love and prayers to all of you……
Amy, Tony, Emma and Max Stefanek
Gabe and Brooke,
I’m so glad to hear today was a better day! Ben and I have been thinking about you two…and Ezra. We send you our love and prayers for a speedy recovery.
We also love looking at all your pictures! The ones of Gabe and Ezra are beautiful!
Stay strong!
All our love,
Cousin Ashley and Ben
Gabe- We know with out a doubt you will continue to be an amazing father and husband. You are incredibly strong, and we are here to support you in any way possible, even if that means you have to eat something we cook. Brooke- I want to mention the way in which you addressed all of us so quickly on monday. You wrote with such grace and calmness, able to articulate what you needed from all of us who care about Gabe, during a time that I can only imagine to be the worst moments for a wife to endure. For that, I would like to thank you. Your son is incredibly lucky to have you as parents.
With Love
Gabe and Family,
We were crushed to hear this news, our hearts go out to you and the rest of your family. We have been checking your progress on the blog and psychically willing the fastest recovery and return to your home possible. Godspeed.

Gabe,
I just want you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts every day. The B-dorm family has been in close contact the past couple of days and there is a lot of love being generated and being sent your way.
With love,
Amanda
Mr and Mrs Jordan,
I am a neighbor. I live on Wentworth. My 21 year old son heard the gunshots, while he was laying in bed Sunday night. He told me the next day about what he had heard. I was asleep and didn’t hear anything. He seemed very concerned but I had not heard anything on the news yet so I just figured it was some idiot unloading his gun at 11:30 at night. I finally found the story in the paper. I have since been following your story all week. I would like to send my prayers to you and your wife and your beautiful baby. I work nights on the westside od indy. But my wife said she has seen Gabe walking your dog down our street many times. My wife and I will be keeping up on your progress and the Chase fund info to come. We would like to help how ever we can. I here Goose Market will be having benefit dinners soon, I would love to check one out when they have one.
I brought my son here to Indy 2 years ago from California mainly to help him escape the gang violence there. But I guess I didn’t realize my old neighborhood has change alot over the last 18 years I was in Ca. There is no very safe place in this world it seems. I hope that the good people, neighbors and friends alike can overcome the hate and crime we all see happening in our neighborhoods everyday.
Dave and Alyse Arnold
Gabe & Brooke,
No words can possibly tell you how devastated we both felt when we heard the news. Its amazing how quickly grief turns to anger …. I immediately wanted to create a small army of vigilante’s and find those responsible. I ran into the IMPD Lt. in charge of Robbery for South District and wanted to make sure they were looking at surveillance footage from all the area liquor & convenience stores…. which they were. I also hope they’re checking all the area folks with robbery priors for their whereabouts Sunday nite. I just know those responsible will be held accountable.
We are anxious to help in EVERY WAY! I saw Brooke and Ezra yesterday am as were rushing to a Drs appt and I could only wave. But there was that ever present wave and smile back from Brooke. You two are amazing people!!! So it surprises me very little when I read of the outpouring of love and prayers from all who know you. We’re looking forward to participating in all the coming events to help you. After all this settles down always know that were just a few seconds from crossing the street and being there 24/7 to help you three!
Luv, Dan & Deb Meno
Gabe-
Wishing you a speedy recovery!! I have told Greg to let me know if there is anything you need help with during this difficult time. You are definitely in the best hands possible.
My thoughts are prayers are with you and your family!!
Jen Tudor
Gabe-
Glad to hear you are able to talk and joke. I am sure the nurses will get used to your dry humor very quickly!:) We are all pulling for you. Everyone that has come into the shop has asked about you. You have an amazing family that we have felt lucky to get to know over these past few days. See you soon!
Hey Gabe and family. Just heard about you and I am praying, praying, praying for you to stay strong and get well!!!!! I wish there was some way Jeff or I could help, but just know we are thinking of you and your family and praying for God’s healing and comfort in what must be an extremely difficult time.
Hello Gabe & family,
We are your Aunt Nancy’s family from Ely, MN. We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
Angell Magliulo & friends
Gabe & Brooke,
You don’t know me, I’m a patron of The Goose. I was watching the news and heard about the incident and somehow felt so connected. I too walk my dog faithfully morning and night. I was so happy to hear you were alive, I was first filled with anger (like Dan above) especially after having lunch at The Goose Thursday and was told they had not caught who was responsible then I read the outpouring of love and support you have and I just sat here and cried. I have lost a son, husband and mother and the pain is so undescribably surreal you don’t think it’s possible to go on but you do and I call it the next “chapter” in my life. I am convinced God does have a plan for us but I don’t know what mine is yet (he,he). One thing is for sure, God has Blessed Brooke, Ezra, your family and friends, they still have YOU!!!! (you sound like a really cool guy) God Bless all of you!!! You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
a caring citizen
Gabe, Steve and I will be praying for you and your family. Don’t know if you remember us,you worked at Chapmans for Steve. We heard about you from Heather Tolmie. We are at the Artists Colony Inn in Nashville, IN now. So sorry to hear what happened. You are in our prayers.
So much LOVE! ! ! ! !
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in hopes of adding to your strength.
We love you ALL very much and we are very sad that this senseless tragedy has happened.
Stay strong, keep hugging, eat you veggies, and laugh often…
xoxoxoxo
Dear Gabe and Brooke,
My heart just stopped and I got sick watching the eleven o’clock news Monday night. There, flashed on the screen, was a beautiful picture of the two of you.
I thought of Baby Ezra, my dear cousin Dana, and all of your family. I thought of seeing Gabe changing Ezra’s diaper in the back of the van at Aunt Jackie’s funeral. I thought of all of you at the recent family reunion at my sister Patti’s house.
Gabe, you seemed like such a sensitive, hands-on dad. It was such a joy to be included in Brooke’s baby shower. Brooke’s face radiated such joy.
After the news, I called Patti. Neither of us could sleep. Both of us were ready to hunt down the person responsible even though you know you can’t.
We are there for you, like an unbelievable amount of family, friends, and strangers are.
We are outraged and saddened, but also joyful that you are alive and improving. We are praying for the best possible outcome.
Love,
Barb and Tom Trudell
Gabe and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys…..we wish you the best recovery—stay strong! We will help in anyway possible — You really are an amazing guy!

Our thoughts are with you. See you at Recess.
Gabe & Family,
We heard about the accident. However, did not make the connection until Greg emailed us. You can definitely add us to the list of those praying for you and your family!
Much love,

Gabe & Brooke,
My family, friends and coworkers have all been sending you thoughts and prayers for strength, courage and the ever necessary sense of humor as you struggle through the beginning of this new journey. Many of my fourth grade students have even added you to their prayer lists and they want you to know they are cheering you guys on! I have been showing them your website. They love to see the pictures and are very inspired by you both. I love to see Ezra when I pick my girls up from my sister. He is full of big sloppy grins and usually cracking up at something Jaden is doing!
All my love,
Tyler

Uncle Fred
Hello Gabe,
I just wanted to leave some words to let you know that I am still praying for you. Even though I don’t know you, it brings tears to my eyes every time I look at this site. Not only because of what happened, but because of the way you and your family and friends are fighting every day. That is the true meaning of family and with prayer, it is the best way to overcome anything. You are an amazing person and I hope that you were able to reunite with Ezra as planned. If nothing else, he is the reason to keep fighting. I will continue to pray and check on your updates. Stay strong! God bless you!!
-Amber S.
HAPPY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! What a perfect day to celebrate your reunion with Ezra. The pictures were soooo wonderful and heartwarming! Gabe, you are a living miracle, and your strength, determination, and positive attitude, as well as fabulous loving family, are blessings you have been given and will carry you a long, long way. Carl says he still has that big “RED” waiting for you….. Hope to see you both soon!
Love,
Carl and Andrea
The pictures posted warmed my heart!! It made me realize what Thanksgiving is all about. I truely gave thanks this year. I am constantly amazed by the human spirit. Your story should be recognized nationally. You have so much love and support around you and such a fighting spirit yourself. You will have many rough moments to come, but I KNOW that you can make it through them when you look in that little guy’s grinning face. Lucky man…..
Brooke, Gabe and Ezra,
Your family has been on my mind ever since I heard the news. I just wanted you to know that you are in my daily thoughts and prayers. You both are demonstrating such love and personal strength, it’s an amazing thing to witness. I have no doubt Gabe, that you can overcome every obstacle that you may face. Although I have not met you personally, I do work with Brooke and have heard her talk about what an amazing person you are. I will continue to pray for your family. I hope that you will be home soon surrounded by those that love you most. Stay strong!
I am sending you much love, positive thoughts and warmth in this frigid cold. You are never off of my mind for long. Maybe someday we can meet. Stay strong for yourself, and your wife, and most of all for that precious little one.
Christmas is rapidly approaching and I thank God that he spared you, He was not done with His work….there is a much bigger reason for your life than you know of right now. All will be revealed in time….It’s time to work hard and love hard and laugh hard. In your very private moments alone, I know it echoes in your head, “Why me!?!” You just keep loving and staying strong and faithful and it will be known to you. All my love at this time, Gabe and family.-Annie
I am so proud of you all and the many friends and family that stay by your side. Be strong, dear Gabe and Brooke. You are always in my prayers.
